Oh BABY!

SO many of my friends are having babies and starting their own families!  It’s so exciting to see them prepare for their arrivals!  I went to my first baby shower of the summer yesterday.  Whitney Lynch, who I went to design school with, is having a baby boy!  I love checking her blog and seeing her progress (and his growth).  She recently moved home (Bountiful) from New York, so to add to her nursery I made her a “Bed Time” antique subway poster.

I’m not ready to have a baby of my own yet, but I SO very jealous that Whit gets to design a nursery….

Her ideas are incredible, and it’s going to be amazing!

Congrats Whitney & Tyler on your new baby, M!!!!  I love him already.

Mother’s Day Weekend

Surprise, surprise:

Guess what we did this weekend?

Friday Zach and I went out for Sushi at a new restaurant in West Jordan, and ended the night with a movie – Something Borrowed.  Such a cute show!  Even Zach enjoyed it.

Saturday was packed with action.  I woke up early to help with a service project in our ward.  After getting our window washing on, I hit up the gym to get my fitness on.  I was so exhausted when I got home…but Zach convinced me to go play basketball with him at our new park down the street.  We seriously were laughing so hard, tears were streaming down our faces.

I’m not going to embarrass anyone…

But Zach lost at HORSE  HORribly.

It’s wasn’t pretty.

Just saying.

After grocery shopping (mostly for popsicles due to the heat) we had to get ready to go to dinner with Zach’s family.  We celebrated Jeanene with delish steaks from Ruth Chris…turns out she doesn’t even like steak that much.  Mental note for next year.

After our dinner, we all went to THOR at the Gateway.  Talk about a show…of glory…and hottness.  I would go again just to see the actor who played Thor.

Sunday night, after our church meetings, we went over to my parents’ house for dinner.  My dad made his specialty, Dutch Oven.

Zach and I have the BEST moms on the planet.  We enjoyed spending time with them this weekend, and couldn’t feel more lucky.  We love them both so much, and couldn’t imagine life without them.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, expecting moms, and FUTURE MOMS!!!  We love you.

Orange Dreamsicle Cupcakes

Honestly?

My co-worker found this recipe online for ORANGE DREAMSICLE Cupcakes.  She made the ones on the left, and the photo from the blog she discovered it on is on the right.  The difference with hers?  She added CHOCOLATE frosting to her cupcakes, which sealed the deal for me.

Honestly, my favorite cupcake I have ever eaten.  With or without the chocolate I am sure.

This one has just been added to our work cookbook.  Divine.

Cinco de Mayo!

A friend in our neighborhood decided to throw a Cinco de Mayo party yesterday at our clubhouse.  What a BLAST!  All sorts of people in the neighborhood came and brought the most amazing dishes.  Sangria (virgin of course), cilantro lime rice, taco casserole, tres leches, taquitos….Cassy even made home-made flan.

When I told Zach we were going to the Cinco de Mayo party, he agreed to wear his favorite shirt that he got in Ogden that says CINCO DE MAYO OGDEN 2007, and I wore his poncho.  Yes, to answer the question forming in your mind right now, we were the only ones that dressed up.  Zach also wanted to contribute to the party, and brought home a bag of Papitas (Mexican chips that look wagon wheels that are bright orange) that he bought from the Mexican market.

Ginny, the host of the party, threw the hottest Cinco de Mayo party this side of the border!  LOVE her.

Mom + Daughter Date!

I always get the same thing for my Mom every Mother’s Day.  I decided I wanted to switch it up this year and take her on a night on the town.  So tonight we decided to do a session at the Jordan River Temple and then go out for dinner, just the two of us.   I have never done a session there before, and it is basically on my way home from work.  I loved being with her, just us, in the temple.  My mom and I have always had such a great relationship and as I get older it only grows into a stronger relationship of respect and love.

After our session we went to dinner, laughing the entire time – mostly at my Dad’s expense.  After too many sodas and creeping out the other customers with our obnoxious outbursts, we parted ways.

My mom is the shizzzzz.  I hope we can always spend time together like this, even when I become a mother.

Love you Mom.

Cinco de Hendo

Zach and I celebrated Cinco de Mayo a few days early…

Tonight with tacos, black beans with lime, yellow saffron rice, homemade tortilla chips, and my new favorite:  pineapple with cilantro.  Sound strange to you?  Don’t knock it until you try it.  I am HOOKED.  I have been eating it straight up with a fork as a side dish, but tonight…I had some pineapple chunks and cilantro with my tortilla chips, like a salsa.  ShazAMMM!  I already love pineapple too much, and then this had to happen.
