The Oscars & Los Angeles

Last night Zach and I joined my family at my Aunt’s house for a night of the Oscars and Taco Soup.

We voted best dressed:  Hilary Swank and Halle Berry!

I LOVE watching the Oscars.  It’s the only award show I watch every single year.  Zach made himself some cheesy chips and braved my critical comments about what everyone was wearing and their hairstyles.  Although we weren’t thrilled with all of the winners in each category, it did get us really excited for this…

Zach and I booked our flights to LA as soon as we got home.  We’ve never been together, only separately with our friends and families.  Zach can’t stop thinking about surfing.  I just want to wear open-toed shoes!

I think all this healthy food business going on in our house is really getting to me.  All I do at work in my spare time is look up recipes I want to make.  I have 267 RECIPES in my bookmark list, and 50% of them have been added in the last week or so.  Here are some of my favorites, and their links!  Let me know if any of you try them!!  I am so anxious to try them myself.

1.  Cheese Bread – the exact recipe like Rodizio Grill

2.  HOMEMADE Marshmallows – Martha Stewart

3.  Salted Caramel Sauce – AG

4.  Pear Crostada – Group Recipes (My co-worker Char brought in one today!)

5.  HOMEMADE Tortilla Chips (Baked) – All Recipes – Thank you Marie from Roth!!!

6. Butternut Squash & Pumpkin Raviolis – Food Network (You can add the pumpkin if you desire!)

I’m Not a Gamer…

Zach and I have never been “game” people.  No board games, card games, or any other games for that matter.  I don’t know what it is, we just don’t get into it.  We’ve been invited to several Game Nights with some close friends, and cringe…NO MATTER HOW MUCH WE LOVE THEM.

Last night I was invited to play Bunco.  I have never played the game before.  I remember my mom telling me how much she loved it, and it got me nervous that my mother and her friends played this game…love you Momma!  But to my surprise, I really enjoyed it.  Maybe it was more the people; girls I adore in my neighborhood, we had such a great time.  Our neighborhood does TONS of activities.  There is always something going on at someone’s house.  Anyway, turns out I am horrible at this game, and got a prize for MOST LOSSES! You can’t win ’em all I guess?

The host had adorable prizes, or you could choose something from her basket of goodies!  I knew immediately what I wanted.  Deep inside the wicker basket was this divine treasure.  More special to me than any block of painted wood with vinyl letters….

Lindt Dark Chocolate with Sea Salt.  My favorite chocolate bar on the planet.  If you like dark chocolate, you MUST try this.  I am literally salivating.  I could eat anything with a ‘touch of sea salt’….Salted Caramel Gelato from Vinto, hot chocolate with sea salt, salted caramel macaroons….the list continues!

Seriously, don’t knock it until you try it!

Friday I got to spend the night with these people:

(Plus Bryson and his wifey Loryn, who are missing from this pic) – Don’t worry, this picture is almost a year old.  We only get together about every 8 months, if we are lucky.  This time we had dinner at my house with all of us (except Heather).  We did exactly what we always do:  eat too much food and talk WAY too much.  Ok, most of the talking was ME, but we all talk a lot.  Thanks for making the drive, especially Braden who drove from Logan!

Saturday Zach and I went to Mikado for sushi and ended the night with a movie:  I AM NUMBER FOUR.

The movie was not great.  But the leading man was lovely to look at.  I was so confused because I kept seeing status updates on Facebook saying, “I AM NUMBER 4 WAS AMAZING!!!”  Maybe my hopes were too high, but I would wait to Red Box this one ;).

In other news, we are an Aunt and Uncle again…that makes 20! And Number 21 is soon to follow!  Zach’s brother Sean and his wife Siri had their third child this week, a boy named Aiden.  Then his sister Gina is due this summer!  The Hendersons = Baby Nation.

We love them all!
